Fashion is a fickle thing. Those who follow it know that styles and preferences can sometimes move in cycles. Occasionally, if you just happen to be a bit of a clothing hoarder, you might even hold on to something for so long, that it actually comes back into style.
I sometimes enjoy visiting what some people might consider uncommon venue to look for clothing deals. I’m not above driving from place to place to check the offerings of thrift stores, garage sales, and even estate sales. For the most part, buying clothing is a lot like buying a new car. As soon as that original tag is gone, its value plummets. The funny thing is though, sometimes it actually comes back more popular and demanding higher prices than ever.
A wonderful example of this is vintage clothes of the 70s and 80s. These old duds are actually getting rather difficult to find unless you are OK with the idea of buying reproductions. The true vintage items are highly prized by collectors and can sometimes sell for outrageous amounts of money.
If 80s fashion is getting hard to find, then genuine 70s clothes are nearly impossible to find unless you are willing to watch eBay for auctions featuring them. Sometimes these will show up when estates are cleared out or when old, unsold merchandise is discovered. If you like the idea of bell bottoms and other fun 70s memorabilia, realize that it is out there, you might just have to spend some time searching it out.
