Fashion is a fickle thing.  Those who follow it know that styles and preferences can sometimes move in cycles.  Occasionally, if you just happen to be a bit of a clothing hoarder, you might even hold on to something for so long, that it actually comes back into style.

I sometimes enjoy visiting what some people might consider uncommon venue to look for clothing deals.  I’m not above driving from place to place to check the offerings of thrift stores, garage sales, and even estate sales.  For the most part, buying clothing is a lot like buying a new car.  As soon as that original tag is gone, its value plummets.  The funny thing is though, sometimes it actually comes back more popular and demanding higher prices than ever.

A wonderful example of this is vintage clothes of the 70s and 80s.  These old duds are actually getting rather difficult to find unless you are OK with the idea of buying reproductions.  The true vintage items are highly prized by collectors and can sometimes sell for outrageous amounts of money.

If 80s fashion is getting hard to find, then genuine 70s clothes are nearly impossible to find unless you are willing to watch eBay for auctions featuring  them.  Sometimes these will show up when estates are cleared out or when old, unsold merchandise is discovered.  If you like the idea of bell bottoms and other fun 70s memorabilia, realize that it is out there, you might just have to spend some time searching it out.

Yes, it is true you can find the perfect Christmas Gift for someone you know by looking at the lates fashion accessories, and buying something you know that they will love. If you know some one who really likes to be up to date with their image, and how they look over all, then this could be the choice for you.

It is not hard to find something suitable for, just take a look at fashion magazines, or even home shopping catalogues, and this will give you some great ideas for the fashion conscious. Some of the Top Christmas Gifts 2011 will most probably be this kind of present.

This is especially true if you are buying for a teenage girl, I find this the hardest age range for gift buying. They have grown out of toys, and the only other thing left to buy seems to be expensive electronics, such as phones and ipads. Which is fine if you have a big budget, but it also leaves them with few gifts on Christmas morning.

So think of fashion accessories, these could range from a piece of fashion jewelry to earrings, or rings. Then there is also clothing, scarves and boots for example are a good choice.

I watched a short video the other day (online) about the designer Marc Jacobs talking and Louis Vuitton. He was promoting the competition, which I thought quite funny! To be honest I’m a fan of both designer brand names, and own more than a few purses from both. In point of fact I’m hoping to visit a Marc Jacobs outlet in a couple of weeks, if for no other reason that I’d like a new purse for work.

Luckily I’m not like some of my girlfriends, that find that they need a work bag that will also hold their laptop or netbook. I just need one for carry a file or two, my cell phone and a few other bits and pieces. My current one is a little old (and tired!) now as I’ve been using it for the last couple of years. This one was given to me by my sister, as she’d bought it and rarely used it. She was having a bit of a clear out and I got lucky.

Anyway, as I said it’s a little on the over-worked side now and as I need to meet clients as a part of my working day, I think it’s time I bought a new designer handbag that kind of completes my ‘professional’ appearance. Hopefully I’ll find exactly what I’m looking for, within a reasonable price range. I am expecting to part with a few hundred dollars or more for the right purse but I see it as an investment so that aspect doesn’t bother me too much. The hardest part is going to be making sure I come out of the store with one purse, and one purse only!
